A Romantic Spring Wedding at The Spa at Norwich Inn | Hannah & Brendan
There’s something extra special about photographing a wedding when you already feel like part of the family. I had the honor of capturing Hannah and Brendan’s beautiful spring wedding at The Spa at Norwich Inn — a timeless New England venue that blends lush gardens, elegant architecture, and a peaceful atmosphere — and it was especially meaningful to me because I also photographed Hannah’s sister’s wedding a few months earlier at The Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, MA. Reuniting with their wonderful family was such a joy!
A Classic Church Ceremony at Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich, CT. Hannah and Brendan chose to begin their day with a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich, Connecticut. This stunning cathedral is a true architectural gem — from the towering stained-glass windows to the ornate altar, everything felt grand yet deeply personal. Hannah walked down the aisle in a classic lace gown, glowing with excitement, while Brendan waited at the altar with the sweetest smile. The ceremony was heartfelt, reverent, and full of love — a perfect start to their spring wedding day.
Portraits at The Spa at Norwich Inn After the ceremony, we made our way to The Spa at Norwich Inn, where the grounds were bursting with fresh spring color. Blossoming trees, soft golden light, and gentle breezes created a dreamy backdrop for their portraits. This venue is one of my favorites for Connecticut wedding photography, especially in springtime when everything is in bloom. From the charming stone bridges to the quiet wooded paths, every corner offered a romantic setting for their couple photos. The joy and energy of the group were contagious — laughter, hugs, and a few happy tears flowed throughout the afternoon.
Elegant Spring Wedding Reception at The Spa at Norwich Hannah and Brendan’s wedding reception was held inside the Ballroom at The Spa at Norwich Inn, where timeless décor and natural light created a warm and inviting space for dinner and dancing. The couple chose a soft color palette of navy blue and white, accented by garden-inspired florals that felt fresh and romantic — the perfect look for a spring wedding in Connecticut. The toasts were touching and full of stories that had the whole room laughing and wiping away tears. One of the most memorable moments was Hannah’s dance with her dad — especially poignant since I had photographed that same dance at her sister’s wedding just a few months prior. It’s always such a gift to witness these full-circle moments through my lens.
A Photo Dash is a fun, fast-paced wedding reception activity that gets guests involved and ensures you get photos with everyone in the room — without spending your entire evening table-hopping.
Here’s how it works: during a specific song (usually something upbeat and about 3–4 minutes long), the couple races around the reception room, stopping at each table for a quick photo with the guests seated there. It’s energetic, spontaneous, and often filled with laughter as everyone rushes to strike a pose. It’s a fantastic way to capture memories with all your loved ones, especially if a formal table visit doesn't fit into your timeline. As a wedding photographer, I love documenting the Photo Dash — the expressions are genuine, the moments are fleeting, and the energy is contagious!
A Family Legacy of Love. It’s always an incredible compliment when a family invites me back to photograph a second wedding — and getting to document both sisters’ weddings in such gorgeous, meaningful venues was a dream. From The Publick House to The Spa at Norwich Inn, this family’s love, warmth, and joy made both wedding days truly unforgettable.
